“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.”
(2 Corinthians 3:18)
I love classic Disney movies and characters. This keepsake came from our special tour of Disney studios, where I was intensely aware of the incredible history and the awesome splendor of my surroundings, and the profound influence the dream of one man has had upon our culture. This figure speaks volumes: The most classic and iconic personality of all the Disney characters attempts to sketch a self-portrait. But what is so captivating, is that the image that comes to reality is the image of his creator. How amazing.
In taking it all in, I am struck by the realization that when others see me, I hope they see the image of my Creator–the one who brought me to life. Does the flawed image I see in the mirror translate into the image of a Savior whose grace captures my soul, and erases my flaws?
I want my life to radiate the recognizable presence of a Savior, whose influence is eternal and glorious and prolific. As the certificate of authenticity in this figure picture confirms it is forged and presented by Disney and is numbered by the status of its completion, I have the stamp and seal of the Holy Spirit guaranteeing that I am an authentic, blood-bought production of God in Heaven, and my name is written in the book of life. My image changes daily as I conform more and more to the image of Jesus. And I wait with anticipation until my humanity is transformed into the eternal perfection I have complete assurance I will obtain.
My faith will be swallowed up in victory, and my image will be complete, forever to be like Jesus.
